ABOUT US

We started the Halimah Project back in January 2017 at Michigan State University as a way for the Muslim Student Association to connect and give back to the Greater Lansing Community.

Lansing is a “Sanctuary City”; meaning they are accepting refugees and immigrants to relocate and live in the city.

We wanted to make the transition to this new country easier on the youth in particular, especially because we know they were coming from situations that
may have been traumatic.

HOW OUR PROGRAM WORKS?

We pair a student with an MSA college student who mentors them as well as encompassing them academically, socially, and religiously.

Our program runs twice a week during the school semester. During this time they tutor, motivate, socialize, take field trips, and much more!
